Susan Moore’s women’s soccer team moved up two spots to first place in the AHSAA Class 1A/3A Coaches Poll this week, the only change at the top of the standings. The Mountain Brook Boys and Oak Mountain Girls continue to cling to No. 1 in the “Super Poll,” the ranking of the top teams, regardless of classification.
The season is 10 days away from the final date of regular season games and the opening of the playoffs. Class 4A/5A and Class 6A substate matches are scheduled to begin on April 28. All classes will meet in a substate competition starting May 2.
The No. 1 men’s teams this week are Vestavia Hills in Class 7A, Mountain Brook in 6A, Montgomery Academy in 4A/5A and Bayside Academy in 1A/3A. The best female teams are Oak Mountain in 7A, Homewood in 6A, Montgomery Academy in 4A/5A and Susan Moore.
